By the end of the lesson, Ss will be able to

- practice sound changes.

- talk about possible UFO and alien sightings in the past, using Past Continuous and Past Simple.

- practice functional English - Showing interest.

- improve Ss’ communication, collaboration and critical thinking skills.

- be aware of what will happen in the future.

II. TEACHING AIDS AND LEARNING MATERIALS

1. Teacher’s aids: Student book and Teacher’s book, class CDs, digital book (DCR phần mềm tương tác SB, DHA (từ vựng/ cấu trúc) phần mềm trò chơi tương tác), projector/interactive whiteboard / TV (if any), PowerPoint slides, handouts.

Lesson 2.3 – Pronunciation and Speaking (pages 60 & 61)
I. OBJECTIVES
By the end of the lesson, Ss will be able to 
1.1. Language knowledge and skills 
- practice sound changes.
- talk about possible UFO and alien sightings in the past, using Past Continuous and Past Simple. 
- practice functional English - Showing interest.
1.2. Competences

- Listen to the sentences and notice the sound changes of the
underlined letters.
- Ss’ performance and answers.

- Listen and cross out the sentence doesn’t follow the note in Task a.

- Read the sentences with the sound feature noted in Task a to a partner.

- Practice the conversation using the correct form of the verbs. Swap roles and repeat.

Watch the video and answer the questions.

- Have Ss listen and watch. 
- Ask some questions: ...recognize the /-ɪn/ sound (the underlined letters).
- listen and check, and find mistakes.

c) Expected outcomes: Ss practice: “the sound changes of the /-ɪn/ sound” and use it naturally in their speaking.
d) Organization of the activity:

Tasks a & b. Listen to the /-ɪn/ sound. Notice the sound changes of the underlined letters.
- Briefly explain the /-ɪn/ sound. 
- Have Ss listen and pronounce some more words as follows:
- Play audio ...n that doesn’t follow the sound feature in “a”.
- Call Ss to give answers.
- Play the recording again and check answers as a whole class.
- Then have Ss practice saying the examples with a partner, using the pronunciation feature.
- Call some Ss to read the sentences in front of the class.
- Have Ss make some more sentences and practice reading them, using the pronunciation feature.
- Give feedback.

- Listen.
- Listen and focus on the sound.
- Listen again and repeat.
- Listen and cro...ideas.
- Play roles in an interview about some alien and UFO sightings.
- Answer: Do you think there is life on other planets? Why (not)?

Task a. Practice the conversation using the correct form of the verbs. Swap roles and repeat. 
- Demonstrate the activity by practicing the role-play
with a student.
- Divide ....
- Have them talk to other Ss standing across from them and talk for two to three minutes as much as they can about either conversation 1 or conversation 2.
- Ss on one side move one space to their left when time is up. After then, Ss continue their talk with their new partners.
- Repeat as many as necessary or until Ss find their original partner.
