 - Differentiated teaching:

 + Incomplete ss: can pronounce the name of the letter S/s in the words sand, sail, and sea

UNIT 3: AT THE SEASIDE
Lesson 1 
I. Objectives:
 * By the end of the lesson, students will be able to:
 + correctly pronounce the name of the letter S/s 
 + correctly pronounce the name of the letter S/s in isolation and in the words sand, sail, and sea
 + recognize the words in different situations when listening. 
 - Ss can develop some following competences: 
 + Communicative and collaborative competence: act 1, act 3, act 4
 + Problem-solving competence: act 1, a...od:

 -Natural Approach
 -3Ps
III. Teaching activities:
 Activity 1: Warm up 
Sing a song
 Activity 2: 
 -Content 1.Listen and repeat
 a. Teaching the letter S/s 
 - Procedure:
 + Have Ss point to the letter S/s explain that the name of the letter S/s is different to its sound /s/
 +Encourage Ss to repeat several times 
 b.Set the scence:
 - Procedure:
 +Have pupils look at the picture and describe it. Draw pupils’ attent...task.
 + Play the recording again and have them listen, point to the letter S/s and sand, sail, and sea and repeat until they feel confident. Correct pronunciation, if necessary.
 +Play the recording again and call some pupils to say the letter S/s and the words sand, sail, and sea in front of the class. 
 Activity 3: 
 -Content 2: Point and say
 - Procedure:
 +Have pupils look at the picture again, saying Look at the picture on Page 14, please! Ask them to describe the picture again. Draw... point to the picture and say the sound of the letter and the words in front of the class.
 Activity 4: 
 -Fun cornner : play a game “Grabbing pictures” 
 - Procedure:
 + Divide class into two groups
 + Ask Ss of two groups play game
 + Congratulate the winner
 t Consolidation:
- Content: Review the letter S/s and words (sand, sail, and sea)
- Procedure:
 + Ask Ss to answer the following questions:
 What have you learnt from the lesson today? 
 What are the core values of the lesson?...+ recognise target words and sentence tructure while listening
 + Trace the letter s in upper case and lower case.
 +Write the letter S/s and complete the words sand, sail, and sea
 - Ss can develop some following competences: 
+ Communicative and collaborative competence: act 1, act 3, act 4
+ Problem-solving competence: act 1, act 2, act 3
+ Self-studying and self-control competence: act 2, act 3, act 4
+ Problem-solving and creative competence: act 4
 *Language focus: 
 - Structure: ...look at the chant. Ask them to pay attention to the letter S/s and the word sea
+ Ask pupils to listen and repeat the first line, saying Listen again and repeat, please! Then play the recording for them to listen and repeat until they feel confident. 
 + Follow the same procedure with the other lines. Show pupils how to chant and clap their hands.
 + Play the recording all the way through. Ask pupils to listen and repeat the chant individually and in chorus, saying Listen and chant, please! G...ourage some pupils to point to the pictures and say the words in front of the class
 + Ask pupils to say what they have heard and ticked
 + Ask pupils to share their idea with their partner
 + Call some to go to the board and write their answers
 Activity 4: 
-Content 5: Look and write
 - Procedure:
 + Have pupils look at the letter S (upper case) and s (lower case). Write the upper case S and the lower case s on the board
 + Write the upper case S and the lower case s in broken lines on...nt from the lesson today? 
 What are the core values of the lesson? ( if the teacher can take from the lesson). 
 + Praise some ss who are hard working/ active/ good. as well as encourage others to try more.
 + Give feedback

	 - Learn by heart the pattern “ I can see the_______”
 - Review the chant

 II. Materials:
 -Teacher’s: books, pictures, flashcards,CD.
 -Students’: books, crayons
III. Method:
 -Communicative Language Teaching
 -Total Physical Respo...s. Correct pronunciation
 + Play the recording several times again for pupils to listen and repeat the sentence
 + Invite a few pupils to listen and repeat the sentence “Let’s look at the sea.” in front of the class. Correct their pronunciation
 + Have pupils work in pairs, good Ss will help the below average and average Ss.
 Activity 3: 
 -Content 7: Let’s talk 
 - Procedure:
 + Have Ss repeat the text in the bubbles a few times.
 + Repeat the procedure with the second picture, and the
