 - Sound: k

 - Vocabulary: kite, bike, kitten

 - Differentiated teaching:

 + Incomplete ss: can pronounce the name of the letter K / k in the words kite, bike and kitten

 + Well-completed ss: can recognize the words in different situations when listening.

UNIT 2: IN THE BACKYARD
Lesson 1 
I. Objectives:
 * By the end of the lesson, students will be able to:
 + correctly pronounce the name of the letter K / k 
 + correctly pronounce the name of the letter K / k in isolation and in the words kite, bike and kitten
 + recognize the words in different situations when listening. 
 - Ss can develop some following competences: 
 + Communicative and collaborative competence: act 1, act 3, act 4
 + Problem-solving competence: ac...ns

III. Teaching activities:
 Activity 1: Warm up 
Sing a song
 Activity 2: 
 -Content 1.Listen and repeat
 a. Teaching the letter K/k
 - Procedure:
 + Have Ss point to the letter K/k explain that the name of the letter K/k is different to its sound /k/
 +Encourage Ss to repeat several times 
 b.Set the scence:
 - Procedure:
 +Have pupils look at the picture and describe it. Draw pu...difficult to do the task.
 + Play the recording again and have them listen, point to the letter K/k and the ball, bike and book and repeat until they feel confident. Correct pronunciation, if necessary.
 +Play the recording again and call some pupils to say the letter K/k and the words kite,bike, and kitten in front of the class. 
 Activity 3: 
 -Content 2: Point and say
 - Procedure:
 +Have pupils look at the picture again, saying Look at the picture on Page 9, please! Ask them to describ... in group
 + Invite some pupils to point to the picture and say the sound of the letter and the words in front of the class.
 Activity 4: 
 -Fun cornner : play a game “Slap the board” 
 - Procedure:
 + Divide class into two groups
 + Ask Ss of two groups play game
 + Congratulate the winner
 t Consolidation:
- Content: Review the letter K/k and words (kite, bike, kitten)
- Procedure:
 + Ask Ss to answer the following questions:
 What have you learnt from the lesson today? 
 What are... --- (verb+ -ing) in the chant
 + recognise target words and sentence tructure while listening
 + Trace the letter k in upper case and lower case.
 +Write the letter K/k and complete the words kite, bike, kitten
 - Ss can develop some following competences: 
+ Communicative and collaborative competence: act 1, act 3, act 4
+ Problem-solving competence: act 1, act 2, act 3
+ Self-studying and self-control competence: act 2, act 3, act 4
+ Problem-solving and creative competence: act 4

 -Content 3 : Listen and chant
 - Procedure:
+ Have pupils look at the chant. Ask them to pay attention to the letter K/k and the word kite
+ Ask pupils to listen and repeat the first line, saying Listen again and repeat, please! Then play the recording for them to listen and repeat until they feel confident. 
 + Follow the same procedure with the other lines. Show pupils how to chant and clap their hands.
 + Play the recording all the way through. Ask pupils to listen and repeat the cha...he recording of the first sentence for pupils to listen.
 + Encourage some pupils to point to the pictures and say the words in front of the class
 + Ask pupils to say what they have heard and ticked
 + Ask pupils to share their idea with their partner
